You can simply send over the people from Sanctuary, but having these unique NPCs work at your settlement is the way to go. These players act somewhat like standard settlers, but have names and unique character dialogue, giving them a special place in our hearts. There are in-game NPCs that can be hired by the Sole Survivor. Now, the whole premise of the Companion Settlement is that standard settlers don't interfere, so who do we get to farm our food? As you might've guessed it, companions, although they will sometimes farm for something to do, can't actually be assigned to farm crops. Water can easily be generated with pumps, but food is a different beast entirely - it requires farmers. Unbelievably, companions actually require these things as well. Next, if you don't want to receive an alert for your settlement every other hour, you'll need food and water. You can expand the number of houses, rooms, and beds, but if you don't want to be building all day, this can wait until you gather more companions. At the Red Rocket, I built a couple prefab wooden shacks and threw some beds inside. Once this is complete, you'll need to give your companions somewhere to sleep. FabricationĮnter your new "Companion Settlement" and destroy next to everything (keeping workstations, beds, food, water, defenses, and desirable furniture intact of course). It is very easily cleared and comes with all crafting stations. It is also the very first empty settlement the Sole Survivor should come across. If you can find a settlement with pre-equipped crafting stations, beds, food, water, or defenses, it would be preferable, but the only real requirement is that it is spacious enough to fit around 15 NPCs.Īs long as you haven't begun settling it, the Red Rocket Truck Stop at the beginning of the game where you find Dogmeat is the preferable option. The Red Rocket is easily defended by placing turrets around the perimeter and offers plenty of land for expansion and crops. What you'll need to do to kick off companion organization is find one of these settlements. There are a ton of empty settlements in Fallout 4.

To get a W boson in the first place, you literally have to smash two protons together. It's because, as Toback explains, the team "measured this tiny difference with such incredible precision that it sticks out like a sore thumb." And fascinatingly, these measurements sort of resemble crime-scene-style deduction. But he quickly added, "We don't think so." "It could be we got it wrong," Toback said. The science community had the same reaction, which is why researchers are now laser-focused on confirming that this greater W boson mass is really the case. You might be wondering if we're sure about this. "It's not a big difference, but we can really see clearly that it is different," said David Toback, a particle physicist from Texas A&M University and co-author of the study. Well, remember the new paper? We're pretty much entering that worst case scenario.Īn image of the particles in the Standard Model.Ī decade of calculations, measurements, cross-checking, head-scratching and deep breathing from about 400 international researchers concluded that the W boson is slightly heavier than the Standard Model predicts it should be. And if that were true, we'd have to change the model - we'd have to change our understanding of how all the particles in the universe work. Simply put, if this particle doesn't equal that mass, the rest of the model wouldn't quite work out. As such, the Standard Model predicts a few parameters for each "string," or particle, and a very important one is the W boson mass. If one string is too tight, stuff starts getting wonky - it doesn't matter which string. Think of each particle in the model as a string, perfectly organized to tie everything together. "It is one of the cornerstones of the Standard Model," said Giorgio Chiarelli, research director of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare in Italy, and co-author of the study.īut here's the crux of the Standard Model. More specifically, it spurs a paradox for the Standard Model of particle physics, a well-established, evolving theory that explains how all the universe's particles behave - protons, electrons, photons, and even those we don't really hear about like gluons, muons, I could go on. But it's actually a major problem for…kind of everything. Unless you're a physicist, at first glance, this might sound trivial. According to a paper published Thursday in the journal Science, 10 years of unimaginably precise data suggest the particle is more massive than our physics predicts. Just know that without the weak force, the sun would basically stop burning.Īnyway, there's drama with the W boson. You may have even pondered photons, the stuff coming out of lightbulbs in your room.īut right now, we need to worry about an odd little particle that usually escapes the limelight: the W boson.Īlong with its partner-in-crime, the Z boson, the W boson dictates what's called the "weak force." I'm going to save you from the rabbit hole of how the weak force works because it involves physics that'll explode our minds. You've likely come across electrons, negative blips roaming around those protons. You've probably heard of protons, positive specks anchoring atoms. However, this also means she loses track of the player the second she loses sight of them, making evading her relatively easy. Unlike other enemies, Agatha is never aware of the player’s whereabouts, and will only pursue them if they are within her line of sight, which makes her a sizable threat when the player is spotted, especially in Act II. If one were to come close to her, they could hear her groaning in disorientation. When stunned, she will lean back and face upwards and will shift her arms and head around. She can also detect the player whenever they open a door.Īccording to Vince, Agatha’s AI is programmed to relentlessly search and torment the player. Unlike the rest of the enemies, she is on her own, and she will play a ‘Cat and Mouse’ game, meaning she will search for the player and chase them once she sees them. The reason was never made evident, but Agatha bears a strong hatred towards Bierce, with the latter bearing the same feelings to the child.Īgatha first appears in the ‘Elementary Evil’ level, as the primary enemy of the school map. Just like children her range of age, Agatha goes into a temper tantrum when things did not go her way, as seen when Doug successfully retrieves all of the soul shards and claim the second ring piece, but this tantrum grows into a violent rage, as she no longer hesitates to hold back and embraces her psychotic instincts and chase down the players with the assistance of Malak. Agatha also has a habit of taunting those who she confronts, as when she successfully weakens Bierce, she berates the latter and telling her to immediately die. As Agatha got ahold of Bierce, she pierced the woman with her long fingers and later playful asks Malak, whom she sees as her father figure, if she can tear Bierce apart. The same can be demonstrated when Malak released the monsters from their respective realm, including Agatha. Agatha’s playfulness extends to a sinister sadism, in which she takes pleasure in torturing her victims, viewing them as nothing more than toys for her amusement. Once having to confront this demonic entity, Agatha reveals her self similar to other monsters, blood-thirsty and malevolent with a love for violence. When first meeting Doug, as he stumbled upon her realm, Agatha greets him and welcomes him as a new student of her school, claiming that his presence in this school will excite the residence of the school, telling that her previous ‘friends’ starts to get boring. In a first encounter, Agatha presented herself as a typical child of her age, a playful, friendly, and childish individual. – E, explaining the origin of Agatha’s existence Upon closer inspection, her arms also appear to have a bit of a blood red color between the gray and the burnt black. Once she goes into her Nightmare mode, her eyes will glow bright red (or pinkish red, depending on the lighting), her skin will turn ghoulish gray, and the white of her blouse will turn red. Despite having a permanent toothy grin, she is able to fully close her mouth to not show her teeth. Like many other characters in the game, her mouth moves like a puppet, yet she has no audible speech impairments. Her toes are exposed, though, implying it could be a cast. She is totally barefoot, with the exception of her right leg, which appears to be wrapped in a beige bandage-like sock. Underneath the dress is a white blouse with black embroidery. She wears a black overall dress that’s tattered down to her knees, the straps being fastened with black buttons. Due to the sheer length of her fingers, it is presumed that she is unable to clench her large, frail hands into fists. The arms themselves look as they are burned or rotten, and are so long that when Agatha has them hanging at her sides, she has to bend her fingers. Agatha also has no eyebrows.Īgatha’s key features are her arms with five unnaturally long, frail fingers, each with almost just as long black claw-like fingernails. She also has long, messy shoulder-length black hair with uneven curtain-style bangs. She makes her first appearance in Chapter 2, and is the main enemy and eventual boss in the level ‘Elementary Evil’.Īgatha has little resemblance to a human child, as she has demented features such as black eyes that are actually not hollow if one were to notice the eye shines in some of her renders, and a large smile filled with rotten teeth coupled with black scar-like marks on her cheeks, reaching up to her ears. Agatha is one of the many enemies and the second boss in Dark Deception. Hangouts support up to 150 users in conversations and up to 25 in video calls for G Suite users but only 10 for free users. Pricing and Platformsīoth Hangouts and Hangouts Meet are available on the web and have mobile apps for both Android and iOS. Meet doesn’t and takes a more professional approach. Google Hangouts support some additional features like adding special effects like hats during calls, status messages, and supports emojis. The same is also true for Meet, but Google notes that recordings saved in Google Drive are encrypted. That seems just not enough, since other messenger apps like Telegram are focusing on the privacy and security of users. However, Google notes that messages are encrypted in transit. You can also chat with users, but only after a meeting has begun. Some useful ones are screen sharing and meeting recording for future references. You will see additional options once a meeting has started. I guess Google wants you to use Calendar, which makes sense if you have a G Suite account. That means you have to use that app, whether you prefer using it or not. You can schedule a Hangouts meeting but from the Google Calendar app only. Hangouts is available for all Google users including G Suite. What this means is that you can only connect to a meeting but can’t create one if you aren’t a G Suite user. Meet supports HD calls and was designed with G Suite users in mind. Well, there are plenty of differences under the surface. Just like Hangouts, the background wallpaper changes randomly but is much nicer to look at, thanks to the Hangouts Canvas Project. How does it all work?Ĭreate a room and share the meeting code with others via either a click-and-join link or by directly sending the code. Most global companies have employees joining from different regions, and Meet supports real-time captions to accommodate everyone. Meet focuses majorly on HD video conferencing, but also supports audio calls. Meet is a direct Zoom competitor, and it is apparent the moment you launch it. Google Meet or Hangouts Meet is an extension of the same platform but for business users. Overall, Hangouts works well but lacks certain features that you can find in other popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram like attachments and end-to-end encryption. You can send images (device and Drive) or take photos. There is no way to attach files, even from Google Drive, which surprised me a little. Once you open a conversation, there are other people-centric options like archive, block, create or add to a group, and notifications. Not sure why they choose to go this weird UI route on mobile apps. Where is the audio call option? You need to open contact to find that. The mobile apps follow suit with a list of contacts on the main screen and a ‘+’ icon to initiate a text or video conversation. The wallpaper will change every time you refresh the page. You can click on the New conversation button to search for contacts. You can chat and make audio and video calls to friends and relatives whom you have added to your Gmail or Contacts app and have Hangouts installed. The UI is pretty easy on the eyes with contacts on the left and three options to connect with them on the right. If you are signed in to Chrome or Gmail, Hangouts will directly sign you in. Let’s understand what these differences are. So, in the next year, you may be in the market for renewing for CA driver's license and getting a Real ID - as this PSA posted to LinkedIn explains, if you're not close to your five-year renewal on your license, you have the option to simply upgrade your license to a Real ID without taking taking the written exam, but you'll keep your existing expiration date and have to take the exam eventually to renew. After that point, you will need to have a Real ID or show your passport to board any plane, even if you're not leaving the country. The federal government's Real ID requirement for domestic travel, which had been scheduled to take effect already, got pushed out to due to the pandemic. And the test is available in 35 languages.įor those moving to CA from another state, the online knowledge course is not an option.Īs KRON4 reports, safeguards are in place to prevent cheating, including keyboard monitoring, voice monitoring, and webcams, and the online test can only be taken on a computer, not on a phone or tablet. The test can be taken online twice, and if a person fails it twice, they will have to take it in person the third time. License renewal applicants, Real ID applicants, and first-time licensees will still have to make an appointment at a physical DMV field office to submit necessary documents, take a vision exam, and provide their thumbprint, but the exam portion can at least be done at home. If you do not have internet access, call 1-88. Find a location near you and make an appointment at: Register for testing. "We continue to incorporate ways to bring DMV services to our customers when and where they want." All OptumServe test sites are now Test to Treat locations, offering prescription COVID-19 medication to those who test positive and are eligible. "This is one more example of how the DMV is modernizing to add more convenient services online that used to be only available in an office," says DMV Director Steve Gordon in a statement. The California DMV has now created an online test-taking option - with a browser extension download required, and some sort of monitoring to prevent cheating - and they're also allowing renewing drivers to take a 45-minute online knowledge course with quizzes, sort of like online traffic school, as an option in lieu of taking the test. It's called the Driver’s License Knowledge Test, and in addition to being required of first-time license applicants, it's required of those applying for a new CA license after moving here from out of state, applying for a Real ID for the first time, renewing your license not within a specific window near its expiration date, and it's required every five years for renewal for drivers over the age of 70. In a gesture toward joining the 21st Century and reducing the amount of time you have to spend at a physical DMV office, the California DMV is now going to let you take written exams online.
